Calibrated soda lime glass microspheres supplied as a dry, 1 g vial of nominal 480 µm spheres for use as particle size and instrument calibration standards. These monodisperse glass spheres are NIST-traceable calibrants intended for calibration and validation of microscopes, light-scattering instruments, particle size analyzers and other measurement systems that require a well-defined spherical standard with high contrast and stability.

Key Features:

  • Nominal diameter: 480 µm
  • Package weight: 1 g (dry spheres)
  • Material: soda lime glass
  • NIST-traceable diameter tolerance: 480 µm ± 14 µm
  • Approximate count per gram: 7050 spheres
  • Particle density: 2.4–2.5 g/cm³
  • Refractive index: 1.51 at 589 nm

Advantages:

  • Monodisperse, high-roundness spheres provide a reproducible reference for calibration of size-measurement systems.
  • NIST-traceable calibration and tight diameter tolerance support traceable, comparable measurement results.
  • Soda lime glass composition offers improved contrast for optical, electron-beam and EDS detection compared with polymer standards.
  • High mechanical and thermal stability and chemical resistance make the spheres suitable for a range of instrument validation and metrology tasks.
